Where to Go?

Backpacking is one of the best ways to get in touch with nature and see the world. For many it is much more than simply a hobby, and more similar to an escape or passion. Of course, exciting backpacking adventures can take place the world over, in anyone of thousands of nature reserves or protected areas. All types of different climates and terrain are always open for exploration, with anything from harsh and dry deserts to tropical rainforests, or flat grasslands, to jagged mountain ranges. Some people prefer to hike the highest mountain peaks, while others wish to bear witness to exotic animal life, either way and whatever the incentive, all backpackers share the common spirit of adventure. And while we all share the adventurous spirit and desire to experience the exhilarating, there is much everyone can learn from their fellow backpacker. Of all this information, and believe us the amount of backpacking tips and info out there is quite overwhelming, perhaps the most important is naturally where to go?

The Majesty of Backpacking

The World is yours: Your Destination can be literally Anywhere

Now we don't pretend to know where the best place for you or anyone else is, as a person's destination always depends on their personal preferences first and foremost, however, we can at least make some excellent recommendations. Some backpacking trails are very well known and popular, while others are less recognised, but equally valuable. I tend to favour mountain trails, as to me nothing is more spectacular than the view you receive when finally completing the difficult ascent. It offers the perfect reward to an excellent hike and I always literally feel on the top of the world after scaling a difficult peak. However, a lot of my friends prefer hiking in the woods and photographing different types of wildlife. It definitely deserves to be mentioned that while hiking you do not only encounter natural wonders, but also architectural and historical monuments as well. There are many rewarding trails which take the follower through history as they pass by ruins or centuries old buildings, like the so-called pilgrim's trail in Camino de Santiago, Spain.

We have mentioned the huge variety of backpacking trails, ranging in everything from their climate, to their terrain, and up until the sites they cover, but one more important distinction needs to be elaborated upon; namely, the difficulty. With some backpacking trails, the hiker really needs to be in peak physical condition, as the actual hike spans many days. To appeal to both the hardcore hiker and the more casual sort, we will be detailing both challenging and novice trails. We hope to cover everything from the Everest base camp trek in Nepal, for experts, to the John Muir trail in the US for nature friends.

Really though, it is critical to first assess both your capabilities and desires, in order to select which trail and trek is right for you. The backpacking info site is one place of many where you can get informed. One thing that is for certain, however, is that there exists a suitable hiking trail for everyone regardless of their tastes. Furthermore, on such journeys it is also essential to take along the right equipment and accessories. Finally, some trails and hiking routes can only be completed during certain times of the year because they become literally impassable during the winter season. In fact, some of these locations have a window of opportunity of only one month or less. Therefore, as with anything, planning is of the utmost importance. And if enough careful planning is undertaken, then nothing stands in the way of having a remarkable and thrilling backpacking experience.
